Bb. Pilipinas 2011 Winners

A 24-year-old University of the Philippines (UP) magna cum laude graduate was crowned Bb. Pilipinas Ms. Universe 2011 at the Araneta Coliseum on Sunday evening.

Shamcey Supsup, who finished B.S. Architecture from UP Diliman and topped the June 2010 Architect Licensure Exam, beat 39 other candidates for the title. She is also a high school salutatorian from the Makati High School.

Supsup, who stands 5’7″ and is from General Santos City, beat 14 other semi-finalists after answering the question, “What worthy cause do you identify yourself with and why?”

Her answer was: “I think the one worthy cause I can identify myself with is valuing education. Because I believe education is something that cannot be taken away from you. You can have money, you can have fame, but in the end, it can be taken from you. But education will always be there to help you.”

Supsup will represent the country in the Miss Universe contest to be held in Sao Paolo, Brazil.

Bicolana beauty Diane Necio won Bb. Pilipinas Ms. International, while Isabella Manjon took Bb. Pilipinas Tourism.

Necio was asked the question what has been her biggest accomplishment and what her goal is.

Her answer: “My biggest achievement was winning last year as Bb. Pilipinas runner-up, and my goal is to win, in this competition, one of the crowns, and hopefully, bring home the crown from one of the international pageants.”

Mary Jean Lastimosa took 2nd runner-up while Janine Tugonon won 1st runner-up.

Best in Swimsuit was won by Queenierich Rehman, while Luzelle Felipe took the Best in Long gown title.

Based on text votes which closed on Sunday at 7 p.m., the “People’s Choice for the Face of Bb. Pilipinas 2011” went to Angelia Ong.

Shamcey was one of my earlier favorites and I wasn’t so surprised when she bagged the crown! It was a well deserved win.

Last night’s pageant was spectacular. All the ladies are beauty and brains. Indeed, the roster can be considered the best in Bb. Pilipinas history.

I was amazed with how the semi-finalist hurdled the much awaited Q&A portion.

Great answers! Im keeping my fingers crossed that our candidates to the international competitions will once again make us proud!

Mabuhay ang gandang Pinay!
