World’s Youngest Mother is a 5-year old!

Lina Medina (born September 27, 1933, in Ticrapo, Huancavelica Region, Peru) is the youngest confirmed mother in medical history, giving birth at the age of five years, seven months and 21 days.

Lina Medina, seven and a half months into pregnancy

Born in Ticrapo, Peru, Medina was brought to a hospital by her parents at the age of five years due to increasing abdominal size. She was originally thought to have had a tumor, but her doctors determined she was in her seventh month of pregnancy. Dr. Gerardo Lozada took her to Lima, Peru, prior to the surgery to have other specialists confirm that Medina was pregnant.

A month and a half later, on May 14, 1939, she gave birth to a boy by a caesarean section necessitated by her small pelvis. The surgery was performed by Dr. Lozada and Dr. Busalleu, with Dr. Colareta providing anaesthesia. Her case was reported in detail by Dr. Edmundo Escomel in the medical journal La Presse Médicale, including the additional details that her menarche had occurred at eight months of age (or 2 1/2 according to a different article)and that she had prominent breast development by the age of four. By age five, her figure displayed pelvic widening and advanced bone maturation.

HER SON

Medina’s son weighed 2.7 kg (6.0 lb; 0.43 st) at birth and was named Gerardo after her doctor. Gerardo was raised believing that Medina was his sister, but found out at the age of 10 that she was his mother. He grew up healthy but died in 1979 at the age of 40 of a disease of the bone marrow.

Medina never revealed the father of the child nor the circumstances of her impregnation. Dr. Escomel suggested she might not actually know herself by writing that Medina “couldn’t give precise responses”. Medina’s father was arrested on suspicion of rape and incest, but was later released due to lack of evidence.

Watdapak! A 5 year old child gave birth? Apparently, some claims this is hoax but expert says there exist an extreme precocious puberty in children aged 5 and below–this may be very rare, but it happens.

Limang back flip para sa odd mother na ito! =)

April 22- EARTH DAY

April 22 is Earth Day!

It’s obvious we are experiencing a drastic change in the weather. Back in early 80’s , maximum typhoon winds is at Signal no. 3 only..Now, we call it tropical depression which can be as strong as Signal no. 5!Even a small rain pour can turn Manila flooded..Cold weather extends up to January and summer can extend up to June!Talk about summer, we hit 37 degrees last week.
We all have to act to save Mother Earth. I wish a bill would be passed about the use of BAYONG as an alternative to plastic. I wish there’d be more trash bins scattered all over the city so that people won’t throw their garbage anywhere. I really hate it when some won’t have the little discipline to dispose their garbages properly. Open my bag and you’ll see bus tickets and candy wrappers and other small stuffs. This is what happens when I don’t see any bin where I can put my trash. When Im home, I put it in our garbage. Small things but big help to our environment.

I’d like to commend all those environmental groups for doing their share to save our place. Im glad ABSCBN foundation is now on the working project to save Pasig River .They’ve done it with La Mesa watershed, they can do it again for Pasig!

Given a free time I’d like to join a tree planting activity.I think that’ll be great!I wish I can turn 6th avenue (my place) into something like the man-made forest of Bilar, Bohol! I sooo love that place!

Beat the heat towards a safer climate!

1. Plant more trees and get involved in similar activities

2. Buy energy-efficient products that don’t use as much energy

3. Buy recyclable products

4. Refrain from buying unnecessary packaging, and waste less

5. Practice the 3Rs of Ecological Solid Waste Management: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle

6. Use compact fluorescent, spiral light bulbs

7. Insulate windows, doors, and electrical outlets and add more insulation to the attic and basement

8. Turn the heating thermostat down, and the air conditioning up, by 1.50C (30F)

9. Choose the most efficient vehicle available, such as a hybrid gasoline-electric model and keep any vehicle well maintained

10. Share a car and avoid short journeys by car

11. Keep tires optimally inflated

12. Walk, bike, use a car pool or take public transport

13. Recycle paper, glass, aluminum, steel and other materials to produce “new” materials

14. Practice becoming Carbon Neutral

15. Advocate change by encouraging larger communities to act on climate change.

There are many ways we can do to save Mother Earth..What can you share to save Mother Earth?

Take action. More here.

The Gaydar–How To Tell If He’s Gay

Ruler na lang daw ang straight ngayon–they say.

Sometimes, it’s really hard to tell whether that ‘man’ on the street is actually straight. You’ll never know if your friend, BF or even your relative might be a member of the ‘federacion’ (70’s much?)..

Take these guidelines for consideration.

He’s probably gay if he spends much time in the bathroom or the salon. May mga iba diyan na sandamakmak ang mga ritwal sa banyo. Others spend much time grooming their hair.At maloka ka if he has a ‘kikay kit’ complete from hair wax, to hairbrush to umm..nail polish!

A gay loves the hits of Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Madonna and yes..Beyonce. Try ringing  his phone..If his ringtone is Regine Velasquez’ I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing– it’s a sure hit! Bading yan!

A certified gay is a big beauty pageant fan! Ask him when Sushmita Sen got her crown- and if he says ‘1994’..yun na!

He’s straight if he doesn’t have qualms in the use of public urinals. A straight male doesn’t really care if he pee using the urinal.Ipapagpag nya pa yan.. Pero ang mga baklut, nagdadalawang isip pa sa paggamit ng urinal. He’d rather prefer a toilet bowl–doors locked.

Malikot ang mga mata ng mga bading. Always on the look out for cute guys..And notice that second look on his face when he spots one. See the spark.See the glow..

May high fashion sense ang mga bading. If your boyfriend chooses a dress for you and compliments with-‘Winner! Bongga ang outfit sa’yo!’ or says “that Hermes bag is soo fab!’..maybe you can consider him a BFF instead!

If his influences includes the likes of any Sex and the City characters or Oprah-maloka ka na!

If he is already at the right age and has not entered a relationship with a girl because of a gazillion reasons..c’mon!then maybe he was thinking of entering into a homosexual relationship!

Kung hindi naman Foundation Day ng city nila or ng school nila, pero singkapal ng espasol ang pulbos o foundation ng mukha nya..Sister yan! Tumambling ka na pag naka-lip gloss pa sya!

If there are sexy and cute male strangers on his FS or FB account..hmmm..pag-isipan mo ulit..If you haven’t met them or really unfamiliar with them-maybe they are constanly sharing moments online! Dedma ang mga straight guys sa mga taong di nila kilala..

Ask your suspected gay friend to say ‘Kamuning’.. Kung may twang sa ‘ning’ check na check yan!

And lastly, if you really wanna be sure if he is gay-ask your certified- gay friends to ‘smell’ him..because a gay’s instinct is always accurate.. Call it ‘lukso ng dugo’ . Maamoy nila ang ‘matris’ nun..hahaha!

So there! Well, these may not be absolute. Sometimes it’s really hard to spot the straights from gays- as there are different kinds of gays on the entire earth! If you notice most of the signs here on a suspected gay–then most likely, he is one. =)

Beer-Good for your bones!

photo from here

NEW YORK – Beer drinkers now have a good excuse to order another round — the brew may help keep bones strong, a study has found.

Researchers from the Department of Food Science & Technology at the University of California, have found beer is a rich source of silicon and may help prevent osteoporosis, as dietary silicon is a key ingredient for increasing bone mineral density.

These were the findings after researchers tested 100 commercial beers for silicon content and categorized the data according to beer style and source.

Previous research has suggested beer contained silicon but little was known about how silicon levels varied with the different types of beer and malting processes.

“We have examined a wide range of beer styles for their silicon content and have also studied the impact of raw materials and the brewing process on the quantities of silicon that enter wort and beer,” researcher Charles Bamforth said in a statement.

The study, published in the Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, found the beers’ silicon content ranged from 6.4 milligrams per liter to 56.5 mg per liter.

The average person’s silicon intake each day is between 20 and 50 mgs.

The researchers found there was little change in the silicon content of barley during the malting process as most of the silicon in barley is in the husk, which is not affected greatly during malting.

They found pale ales showed the highest silicon content while non-alcoholic beers, light lagers and wheat beers had the least silicon.

“Beers containing high levels of malted barley and hops are richest in silicon,” said Bamforth. “Wheat contains less silicon than barley because it is the husk of the barley that is rich in this element.”

But Bamforth told reporters that the results shouldn’t be taken too serious.

The study examined the beers but it did not look at bone mineral density or analyze patients’ data.

“I would first consider flavor and whether you like it or not,” he told science and technology magazine Discover. “Choose the beer you enjoy, for goodness sake.”

***

Obviously, we are a bunch of beer drinkers..My barkada will get sick if their bellies won’t be filled with beer..No wonder we don’ have abs,but flabs! =)

But who cares? Beer belly or healthy bones? (Justifying much?lolz)

At least, now we know that not only milk can make your bones healthy-BEER does wonders too!

More BEER, More FUN! Right?

Awkward Boner

I had a weird, ummm, awkward experience last Monday at the LRT train. People usually flood the train but during Mondays, the people are uber jampacked. 4 trains had already passed by, I think I might be late already, and I haven’t boarded yet. The trains were literally an SRO and I couldn’t inch myself inside. Until came the next train and due to the man who was pushing me, I was able to make foot inside.

I was near the door, can’t get inside, there’s no handle to hold even so I have to practice my balancing act. (Thanks to my Physics teacher in HS for teaching us equilibrium!)..Well, it’s always been like this. Practically half my life I was riding the LRT-I already got used to it.

I wasn’t minding the people around. After all, we are all struggling in balancing ourselves while the train moves. Until I felt something hard from behind. At first I thought it was the bag of the man on my back. Then suddenly I realized he was holding his bag and it couldn’t be his bag that was rubbing my ass.

WTF! It was actually his penis! This horny dude had a boner..And yes, he was really rubbing it on my cheeks!

Jampacked as it always at the LRT, it’s a little normal that once in a while you’ll feel someones bulge rubbing at your butt.. But this boner man, was enjoying every moment of it. He was really rubbing it on my behind and I can hear his deep breaths. I couldn’t change position, and the more his erection getting hard! And yes. Im a man too!

At one point he even caressed my butt cheek and even grabbed my hand and motioned it to touch his bulge. I was getting a lil scared already by that time.

I don’t want to make a scandl inside a public transport please!

Thanks heavens, after several stations, most people had already hopped off the train and if he continue doing his maniac acts people would already notice it. I also transferred to another spot where he can’t reach me.

What libido in the morning can do!

Apparently, I was in the same uniform when someone also rubbed his erection on my behind 2 weeks ago. Can I conclude that it must be my pants? Or could it be the hot weather? Or it’s a fact that men really have spontaneous erections? Hmmm..

I think that boner man went to the bathroom directly after that to calm Don Juan down..Yeah right!

eksena lang =))

MKK Larawan – La Greta

It was another superb episode of Maalala Mo Kaya tonight. I was thinking of going out with my friends, but thanks to my lazy bones, I was able to watch tonight’s MKK episode.

Controversial actress Gretchen Barreto topbilled the episode. I was surprised that she actually delivered it very well. She has shown her acting prowess as she portrayed the role of a struggling daughter to her parents, a wife to a soldier who eventually died and remarried to a priest. Yes, a priest (played by the not-so-hunky-now Jomari Yllana).

A question of morality sizzled. But La Greta, who was overly in love, followed her heart. She was able to manage, moved on and thought marrying the priest became another saving grace. Until she became too busy with her career and lost time with her family. And one day she learned that her daughter was already being molested by her husband.

How will she handle another trial in her life? This was beautifully answered in Larawan- tonight’s MKK episode.

I totally loved the plot! This was another story of stuggle and inspiration; of stumbling and falling but being able to stand up once again; of hurting and forgiving; of emerging victorious because one chose victory more than losing.

To La Greta and to the cast- orchids to all of you! I’m sure this is another top rater.

Missed the episode? Watch it here.
